What if you suddenly have to decide about putting your loved on in an assisted living facility

What if you suddenly have to decide about putting your loved one in an assisted living facility?

Where could you turn to IF SUDDENLY you have to be the decision-maker to put this relative in a nursing home or assisted living facility versus keeping them at home?

This is part 3 of 7 for the series; "What can you do to help your loved one get better faster after a hospital or rehab stay."

When an older person is admitted to the hospital, families worry about three things:

  1. What to do with the person if they need care after the hospital or rehab stay.

  2. How to personally provide care while keeping their personal and career lives together.

  3. How to afford care without spending their inheritance.

Very often, family caregiving is accidental, meaning that something happens and suddenly care is needed. Most families do not have a plan for care, so if care is required suddenly, the family caregiver finds him or herself in crisis and stress. The phone book or google will give you a long list of agencies and community services, including the area agency on aging. If you call these agencies, you get a voicemail or receive a ton of pamphlets and brochures.

What do you do next, how do you know which agency to choose, and who can you trust to deliver the kind of services that you truly need at the price that you can afford? What about Medicare, Medicaid, and secondary insurance? What do they pay for, and how quickly can you get the services you need? If you need help right away, the only service you can depend on for good information and immediate help is COMFORT MAKERS. We provide "Assisted Living At Home." It is round-the-clock care that ranges in cost from $22 to $26 per hour for cost services delivered in 24 hours shifts. If the care provided is less than twenty-four shifts, it ranges from $29 to $35 per hour.

If I can be of assistance, please call or email any time. Next time we will discuss Medicare and the services it offers.
